Description
The Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM00855 is part of Panerai's 2016 'Big Five' collaboration with Purdey. Like Panerai, the luxury gun engraver is part of the Richemont luxury group, and the collaboration first took flight in 2002 with the introduction of the first Sealand for Purdey Panerai's - then based on the traditional Luminor watch.
The present watch is based on the Luminor 1950 series, featuring a more curvaceous case and housing Panerai's in-house caliber P.9000 movement. As is tradition with the Sealand (and in extension, Purdey) series, the dial is hidden by an elaborately engraved lid - in this case depicting an African buffalo.
Movement
The P.9000 caliber, created entirely by Officine Panerai and used in a series of Luminor 1950 and Radiomir models, is fitted with various functions: it is an automatic calibre with a 3-day power reserve and a unique technical design which makes these movements immediately recognizable. The calibre has a diameter of 13? lignes and numerous features: two barrels which guarantee 72 hours of power reserve; a single piece rotor which winds by moving in both directions thanks to an automatic ratchet device; a balance wheel with adjusting screws, oscillating at a frequency of 4 Hz.
